A Gummi-reffic Discussion

Nutrition is something that I rarely talk about because to be honest I am not exactly medically qualified to give advice on the subject. I am also not the greatest cook in the world so talking to you about awesome new recipes I may or may not have create would not be advisable.

Personally, I have a problem with eating properly, let alone creating things for my little Mel to eat.

You could say, in a way, I am afraid of failing — making a meal that tastes horrible or burning it which I have done once or twice or any other disaster that comes along with cooking, so I just avoid the kitchen unless it is extremely necessary — so basically cooking to the best of my abilities for Melody to eat the proper food.

As a side note I also started a mild fire in the kitchen of my parents’ apartment about 18 years ago so maybe I have a slight fear of having that happen again…oh what cooking oil can do.

Anyway, I was talking to a friend of mine a while back about my issues with the kitchen and nutrition and how even prior to my second pregnancy the level of energy I had on a daily basis was slim to none: I have become super lazy and all I ever want to do is sleep.

She basically looked at me and said that I am probably not getting the proper amount of nutrients from the food I am eating. I kind of looked at her funny thinking yeah ok I am sure that’s what it is — you see… she is an excellent cook.

After a long discussion as to what exactly I eat, it turns out that according to the healthy world I am lacking a whole lot of vegetable and fruit intake on a daily basis. This could have a possible connection as to why I have no energy and since I am a pure pasta addict there is only so much you can get out of that and bread.

FACT: Did you know that as humans we are supposed to be eating 7 to 13 different types of raw fruit and vegetables per day because they aren’t as nutrient dense as they should be?

I sure didn’t.

I had no idea a person needed to have so many different types of fruits and vegetables per day. I was so used to eating the same old stuff I never really realized how much it was affecting me until now that is.

So, my friend and I discussed a company she has been using called Juice Plus, which basically has products like gummies or capsules that you eat every day that give you the nutrients from the fruits and vegetables you should be eating.

I honestly thought she was bluffing.

Seriously, a few fruit and vegetable gummies would give me the proper nutrients? So, my inquisitive-self took over and I did my own research at home and honestly?

She was right.

The doctors and creators of this company take real fruit and veg and turn them into gummies and capsules to allow every person taking them to get the nutrient intake they need. They pick the fruits and vegetables at the proper time so that all the nutrients are there when we need them.

We live in such a go go-go world that we tend to eat whatever is available whenever it’s available without any consideration or thought behind whether what we are eating is good for us or not.

So, naturally, I was intrigued.

Could this really change my life? Could this help me in the ways I always wanted? Is it possible that 12 little gummies a day could give me those nutrients that I am missing and help me get going a little bit more every day?

Now this doesn’t mean I shouldn’t change my diet and think of healthier ways and things to eat and did seem like it was worth a try because I want to be healthier in every way possible for myself and my two little munchkins.

I’m trying to cook and hopefully give myself and my kiddos some healthy yummy meals and try to get the proper nutrients in an extra way.

Honestly, I thought to myself: with the current state of the world, this virus, I am willing to try anything. So, I ordered this beautiful package and I am ready to see where this will take me and can’t wait to share the journey with you all.
